GEOMARINE RESEARCH FORUM
National Coordinating Agency For Survey and Mapping (BAKOSURTANAL) in collaboration with Indonesian society for remote sensing (ISRS)- Jabodetabek and Center for regional assessment, planning and development - Bogor Agricultural University (P4W – IPB) has a pleasure to invite you to the Conference “ Geo-marine Research Forum  2007” taking place at IPB International Convention Center – Bogor on 6 – 7 November 2007. The conference will be focusing on the health of coastal systems and their ability to provide critical services that is very strongly linked to that of upland, coastal and marine environmental changes using remote sensing and Geographical Information System methods.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Following decades of  interdisciplinary research on the application of remote sensing and geographical information systems, comes appropriate time to assess efforts that hopefully will advance our knowledge in protecting coastal, upland and marine area in integrated manner. This conference will find out the road in finding our goal to achieve cumulative progressive research, to enhance the set of methodologies, to generate useful knowledge and to bridge the mechanism for the variety of interdisciplinary research. The conference will examine three themes of methodology development in Remote sensing and geographical information system, i.e: Marine and coastal studies, Sustainable urban and rural development and Integrated analysis and modeling

OBJECTIVES:
  1. To provide a forum for information exchange and sharing
  2. To share vision and knowledge in methodology of application of remote sensing and geographical information systems

VENUE AND DATE
IPB INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTER,
2nd floor Botani Square Building
Jln. Raya Pajajaran Bogor - Indonesia
6 – 7  November, 2007

TARGET GROUP
The conference aims to bring together among Executives, Scientist, Academics, Non-government organizations, Students and relevant groups from various countries

TOPICS
a. Coastal and Marine studies

  • Integrated coastal zone management
  • Upstream and downstream environmental studies
  • Data Acquisition for coastal and marine studies
  • Disaster management
  • Human dimension on coastal and marine studies

b. Sustainable urban and rural development

This topics focus on sets of studies and methodologies of Remote sensing  and Geographical Information for  development of urban and rural area from upland to the coastal area in order to achieve sustainable coastal environment. The sub-topics may include:

  1. Integrated Eco-city/Eco-Village management
  2. Environmental dimensions on urban-rural linkages
  3. Spatial information system for sustainable city
  4. Resilience city & Urban Vulnerability
  5. Community & Urban Settlement

c. Integrating analysis and modeling

The core of the topics are dealing with the development of models and further analysis of integrated multi discipline studies  using remote sensing, Geographical Information System and others’ related technique. The model may see the nature as the whole and its impact on the sustainability of the coastal to the upland area. The sub-topics may include;

  1. Integrated monitoring for global warming detection
  2. Integrated analysis for human and environmental sustainability
